Local Opposition To Wind Farm

Energy company Broadview Energy Ltd want to build a wind farm on a site near Bishops Itchington and Knightcote. An opposition group has already been formed, led by George Wood who used to work for National Grid. Broadview will spend the next six months doing a feasibility study on the site. They have an online consultation website.

The 11th Hour

The 11th Hour will be showing at the Sydni Centre on Friday 24th July at 7.30pm.


Co-written, co-produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, this documentary looks at the state of the global environment and asks what solutions we can find to restore our planet's ecosystems.

Southam scheme to provide habitat for rare butterfly


The caterpillar of the endangered Small Blue butterfly only feeds on kidney vetch plants. These were planted along both sides of Southam bypass by volunteers in 2006. They are now flowering and it's hoped will soon be colonised by Small Blue butterflies.

Getting Kineton Growing

A group in Kineton called Getting Kineton Growing have negotiated with Stratford District Council to have two demonstration plots on the village green in a bid to encourage local residents to try their hand at growing vegetables.

350.org - In every corner of the globe...

I found this video today from 350.org which is promoting an International Day of Climate Action on 24th October 2009. The 350 refers to 350 parts per million of carbon in the atmosphere. NASA’s James Hansen and other climatologists believe this is the safe level beyond which we will see devastating damage done to our planet.

Wonky Fruit & Veg

The European Commission has scrapped regulations that prevented the sale of misshapen fruit and vegetables. This is good news for the environment because up to 20% of fruit and vegetables have previously been rejected. The big supermarkets say that their customers like their carrots to be shapely and won't buy ones that are deformed.
